Fire Risk Assessments
A fire risk assessment is imperative to developing a robust fire safety strategy and is a legal requirement of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
A fire risk assessment aims to make buildings safer places to be, by reducing the likelihood of a fire starting and reducing the consequences for persons in the building.
Our expert fire risk surveyors have many years experience in conducting fire risk assessments at all sizes of business premises, and are BAFE SP205 Accredited Fire Risk Assessors.
What is a Fire Risk Assessment?
A fire risk assessment looks at your premises in an organised and methodical manner. It also looks at the activities carried on there and the likelihood that a fire could start and cause harm to those in and around the premises.
The aims of the fire risk assessment are:
- To identify the fire hazards on-site
- To identify the people that could be at risk from the hazards
- To evaluate the severity of that risk to those people
- To determine whether the existing control measures are adequate, and implement additional control measures where appropriate
We produce for you a plain English document that details all the above.
Who Needs a Fire Risk Assessment?
If you occupy business premises it is most likely that you are required by law to carry out a fire risk assessment. The law requires the following buildings to have a Fire Risk Assessment:-
- Places of assembly, such as pubs and clubs
- Hotels, guest houses and boarding houses
- Houses in multiple occupation
- Blocks of flats
- Residential care and nursing homes
If you employ 5 or more people, the significant findings of the Fire Risk Assessment must be recorded.
How Much is a Fire Risk Assessment?
The cost of a Fire Risk Assessment depends on the type and size of the building, the complexity of the internal arrangements and activities being carried out in the building. We can also provide a plan of the building to supplement the fire risk assessment, which will show all fire safety provisions and certain hazards.
However, Trust Security prides itself on providing cost effective services to our clients, and delivering good quality Fire Risk Assessments in accordance with PAS79, the British Standard specification and methodology for carrying out Fire Risk Assessments.
